Down 26-13 to Oak Park in the 4th quarter, Cass Tech opened up their passing game more and wide receiver Demetric Vance stepped up to the plate.
He made several tough grabs in traffic including one which set up the go-ahead touchdown, which helped the Technicians to a 27-26 victory to open their season.
It was a demonstration of the ball skills and ability to use his size (6-2, 190) that had been on display over this offseason at camps.
"It was incredible just to come back and never give up and keep competing," he said.
When it looked bleak late in the game, Vance says he knew he had to step up.
"To me, my team's going down, I have to bring them up because I know the game wasn't over."
He added, "This gives us a lot of confidence."
Currently holding an offer from NC State, anyone who was at the game could see that more opportunities are likely on their way, and Vance hopes to be an unofficial visitor at several games this Fall.
