Make it two first round picks for the Michigan Wolverines as former center Mitch McGary was selected at No. 21 overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2014 NBA draft.

McGary, who was not invited to New York to attend the draft, excitedly tweeted his reaction moments after being selected:

While multiple reports leading up to Thursday’s draft had McGary being promised a first round selection, it appears that was the case.

Despite a high level finish to his freshman campaign in helping lead Michigan all the way to an appearance in the 2013 national championship game, McGary averaged 14.3 points and 10. 8 rebounds over those six NCAA tournament starts.

McGary is listed at 6-foot-10.5, 266-pounds.

McGary’s sophomore campaign was a much greater struggle appearing in just eight games dealing with a lingering preseason back issue, eventually making the decision to have back surgery prior to the New Year.

McGary averaged 9.5 points and 8.2 rebounds over those eight games before wrestling with a decision on his future.

After failing an NCAA mandated drug test during the 2014 NCAA tournament, McGary was facing a one year suspension should he return to the Wolverines for his junior season, instead opting to head to the NBA draft despite not being 100-percent.

Michigan coach John Beilein was in New York sitting with the family of Nik Stauskas who was selected at No. 8 overall by the Sacramento Kings, tweeting the news and congratulations at McGary following his selection:
