It came down to an instate battle and in the end, MSU won out. Scout.com 4-star prospect Fred Smith became the Spartan's 4th verbal committment on the year. The 6'3, 206-lb Smith caught 45 passes last season for 600 yards and 8 touchdowns and also grabbed 7 interceptions on defense. On the basketball court, Smith averaged 23 points per game.
