Four-star pass rusher Deion Barnes just accepted an invitation to play in the Chesapeake Bowl on December 30th and by then he should be committed to either Penn State, Pittsburgh, Georgia, South Carolina or Michigan.
Northeast High School defensive end
Deion Barnes
will be lining up on what is starting to look like a stellar defense for the North Squad in the Chesapeake Bowl this year and the 6-foot-4, 225-pounder talked to Scout.com about playing against big competition and his plans for official visits.
“I’m really excited to get to play in the game and hope to play against the best tackles in the country because I want to show people what I can do against the best there is out there,” Barnes said. “It’s not pressure for me playing against great players. That’s just something for me to take advantage of to be honest with you, so I’m really looking forward to the game experience.”
“With recruiting, everything is about the same right now. I got a few calls on September 1st, but I have my top five right now and I talked to all of them which was important.
Penn State
,
Pittsburgh
,
Georgia
,
South Carolina
and
Michigan
will be my five official visits and I’ll make my decision from there.”
Barnes had seven tackles and two tackles for loss in his first game against Norristown this past weekend.
The Chesapeake Bowl will be played on December 30th and will put the North against the South. The North team is represented by players picked from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware and the South team is comprised of players from Maryland, Washington, D.C., West Virginia and Virginia. The location of the game has not been decided yet, but should be announced shortly and all participants will go home with their own personalized jersey and a custom bowl ring which can be seen below in a lower resolution. The game will be open to the public.
