Orlando, FL.- Non-stop games means a steady flow of players to watch. Some of these players are known throughout the country and carry lofty offers while others are sleepers to many across the country. Here’s a look at players from the 17u and 16u A.A.U. Super Showcases and the A.A.U. National Championships.
Albany City Rocks 17u 6’9” 2012 center Dejuan Coleman is a top five player in the Nation’s 2012 class but he was neutralized on Tuesday afternoon not by the Illinois Hawks but by his teammates love for the three-pointer and denial of the biggest player on the court’s position. He sealed defenders and pulled down double digit rebounds while finding open position deep in the post.
Club Ohio 17u’s have solid post players who are athletic and take up space in the middle with 2011 6’8” power forward Jared Bryant and 2011 6’6” Jalen Billups. Bryant is more of a traditional post player while Billups provides energy and rebounds by attacking the glass from beyond the paint. 6’2” point guard Semaj Christon is another member of the 2011 class who is gathering mid-major offers since the beginning of July as he does a great job of running the show while making the right decisions.
The Detroit Fire 17u provided a cameo appearance by 2011 6’ combo guard and Michigan recruit
Carlton Brundidge
. Brundidge did what Brundidge does and that’s attack the rim and find ways to get to points be it layups or finding his way to the free-throw line. The future Wolverine wasn’t the only guard on the team more than likely head to the division one ranks as 2011 6’1” point guard Kris Fulwood-Davis is an efficient guard who gets it done on either end of the floor. 5’11” point guard
DeAndre Johnson
is one of a handful of 2013 generals from the Great Lakes State who have the mentality and tools to gain national interest from high major programs across the country.
6’8 2011 Greg Mays of the Illinois Wolverines Red 17u has a high motor, the ability to play power forward, and the athleticism to find spots on mid-major plus programs. He has nice size and after the Wolverines game mentioned that his high school football days are over and in a year he’ll be on the college hardwood.
Martin Bros. 17u 2012 6’4” shooting guard Matt Bohannon is a Northern Iowa commit and in a comeback attempt versus CP3 he picked his scoring up. He finished the game with 31-points by hitting three-pointers, mid-range jumpers off the dribble, and by slashing to the basket.
6’8” 2012 power forward Barnett Harris is the most noticed college prospect on a well-balanced Drill 4 Skill squad as he has size and improving skill which has led to offers from Duquesne and Eastern Michigan. He needs to put on weight but that doesn’t stop him from mixing it up in the paint for rebounds or scoring points. 6’4” shooting guard Anthony Dallier was five of five from beyond the arc and raised the eye brows of mid-major and mid-major plus coaches in attendance. 6’7” P.J. McLaughin has the strength to hold off many of the nation’s post players but rebounding and finding put backs wasn’t all that his game entails as he’s quick to find teammates for layups when defenses commit to double team the 235-pound post player.
CP3’s 16u guards are following in the steps of the program’s 17u squad as 6’1” 2012 guard Braxton Obgueze continued to scorch the nets as he did in the 16u Super Showcase on Tuesday. He holds high major offers from ACC programs. 6’2” 2012 point guard
Madison Jones
does a great job of dispersing the ball while finding his own points in a natural rhythm. Expect his stock and offers to rise as he continues his solid play while in Orlando and in the future.
Memphis Magic 16u’s 6’3” 2012 wing Earvin Morris, jr. played all 32 minutes with energy and despite a slender frame attacked the glass and looked to get into the paint for the majority of his points. He knocked down a three from the corner and his pull-up j looked like a thing of practice.
Southern Kings-Red 16u squad’s
Brandon Morris
is a 2012 6’7 lefty who plays hard and scores in a variety of ways whether it’s from the perimeter, the mid-range, or above the rim on the break. He’s long and is a defensive nuisance. He holds ACC and SEC offers with a game that’s sure to gain him national offers sooner than later.
The Virginia Cardinals have a handful of players that have opportunities to gather offers and attention in the 16u Division I National Championship. 6’9” 2012 Aaron Rodenas is a slender power forward and decent athlete who can score from 18’ or after facing up in the post. 6’5” 2011 power forward Mohamed Alie-Cox is a young senior on the Cardinals’ 16u squad who is stupid long, strong, and an ex-football player. He operates from 15’ and in and resembles the St. Louis Eagles 17u
Roosevelt Jones
