Kelly Has Michigan High

The Lakota West (West Chester, OH) offensive lineman received a Michigan offer back in the spring not long after a junior day visit. He recently named his top five, is Michigan in there? GoBlueWolverine has the latest.
Ryan Kelly
, the 6’5” 280 pound offensive center, was wondering what the hold up was with the Wolverines after a junior day visit earlier in the year. After getting into contact with the coaches again, everything was cleared up.
“At first when I went up to junior day they really liked me a lot,” Kelly recalled for GoBlueWolverine. “Then after that it kind of died down a little bit and I didn’t really hear anything from them. Then I got in touch with Coach Dews and he said that they wanted me but we had to wait on the offensive coordinator. At this time I was already getting offers from Florida and Alabama and things, so I got on the phone with Coach Rodriguez and he said they had staff meetings every week and they talked about me all the time. He told me I was getting my offer but it wasn’t because all of the other schools.”
Kelly, who recently named a top five (Michigan included), still has the Maize and Blue high on his list, despite the early miscommunications.
“Yeah, Michigan is still up there. The academics are probably the biggest thing, and one of the reasons they’re so high up there. I’ve already qualified and everything with the NCAA. You can graduate there with a really great degree and football can only take you so far.”
While academics are certainly at the top of the list for the Buckeye State prospect, he also weighed in on the current state of the football program.
“I’d say they’re kind of… they’ve had some allegations and stuff but just a couple of off years and rebuilding. I expect they will probably step it up and go from there.”
Kelly has kept the road blisteringly hot over the summer, and thus isn’t sure of his next possible destination on his visit’s list.
“I’m just really not sure right now, I’ve been taking so many visits. I’m probably just going to sit down for a couple of weeks or so and think about it whether it’s worth it or not.”
The recruiting process has certainly caught up with Kelly, and he will deservedly take a break and start making check lists for himself before any more decisions, regardless of what they may be, are made.
“Reporters and coaches call all the time right after these visits so it gets so confusing. I really just need to sit down and start planning out all the pro’s and con’s of everything. I just don’t even know right now (laughing).”
