A few Toledo St. John’s Jesuit teammates were in attendance for Michigan’s February 20th junior day. The athletic prospect Cheatem Norrils came away quite impressed with the Wolverines.
Cheatem Norrils
, the 5’11” 180 pound athlete from Toledo St. John’s Jesuit, took in yesterday’s junior day at the University of Michigan and came away quite impressed.
“It was exciting! To be that close to the field and that close to the coaches and walk around and see how their facilities were. It was nice because I know
Kevin Koger
, and I didn’t really know it was that serious. I knew it was serious, but, it’s way more than what you see on TV.”
During his trip to Michigan, Norrils was able to spend a few moments with his fellow Toledo area friend, Koger.
“A little bit (on speaking with Koger). A few of their players, like at least ten of their players, talked to us in the meeting. They answered a few questions. They really like it. They like everything, and how the coaches are, and everything going on for them. They said the last two seasons weren't as great, but they feel their about to take it to the next level.”
Aside the players, Norrils was also able to spend some time with the coaches and learn what being a Wolverine is all about.
“They just talked about the recruiting process and it was one of their first “real” junior days. We talked about that, and how the whole team worked and everything that they do.”
Norrils definitely had something stick out for him on his trip to Ann Arbor, and it was something that the Maize and Blue excel in.
“I would say probably the academics. It was just how they have so much help and what they get through the season and off-season. And how it’s a challenge, but if you get through there with a degree, you’re pretty much set for life.”
Norrils, who holds an offer from Toledo, has the Wolverines on his early list and is feeling the reciprocation from the Michigan coaching staff.
“I already got a few letters from them and they seem really interested. Me and one of my teammates left early (before the basketball game), but they seemed like they really wanted me to be around.”
