His Recruiting Story
It didn’t take long for Robinson to get noticed. During his sophomore season he scored four touchdowns while amassing around 600 receiving yards. He followed that up by putting on an impressive showing at the Cincinnati Underclassmen Combine where his talents on both sides of the ball were on display as he continuously abused defensive backs during one-on-ones. Being a native of Ohio he took visits to Ohio State, and also had early offers from Cincinnati and Illinois amongst others. The Buckeyes were his childhood favorite, but when they were slow to offer the Wolverines swooped in and landed this receiver who is thought the best WR in the state of Ohio’s 2010 Class. His ability to catch everything thrown his way makes this player a steal from Ohio State, who came in with an offer after he pledged a commitment to
Michigan
.
During his final year of high school football Robinson played well on both sides of the ball. He totaled approximately 33 catches for 566 yards and four touchdowns, rushed 14 times for 89 yards and two touchdowns; and recorded 19 tackles, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery on defense.
His Commitment Comments
“I’m just happy to be a part of the Wolverine family. He (Rodriguez) wanted to get to know my family so he was asking my mom, my dad, and my brother what they do,” said Robinson. “And he answered every question they had. He asked me what I thought about the program, and I told him that my family and I talked the whole past week and decided Michigan was where I wanted to be… and depending on how the visit went, I would commit. I told him it went well and I wanted to be a Wolverine, so he got up and gave me a hug and said congratulations.”
GoBlueWolverine Commentary
Robinson is a very polished receiver. His size, quickness, and athleticism make him a tough match-up for any defensive back. However, what truly separates him is his understanding of the game and his ability to run disciplined routes making even tough catches look easy. He has outstanding ball skills and leaping ability. He can go very high to snag passes. Though he is coming in to play receiver, his shown ability to play defensive back. As an early enrollee he may get the chance to play early for the Wolverines.
