His Recruiting Story
When Michigan received the Dr. Phillips receiving stars commitment, not only did they get a legitimate deep threat from a Michigan sports legacy athlete, but also a motivated recruiter for the Wolverines. You will be hard-pressed to find a recruit who visited the Big House this year without hearing that Miller was in their ear selling the maize and blue. So committed to the university and its success, Miller left Florida and took up residence in Michigan, where he joined the Ann Arbor Pioneer football team, to be in attendance at all of the Wolverines home football games to help seal the class of 2010.
Ricardo had other offers from the likes of Florida, LSU, and many other top-tier Division I schools. With a brilliant debut anyone can see why he didn't take long to put his name on the recruiting map. In his first season as a starter, 2008, Miller put up attention-drawing numbers tallying 34 catches for 615 yards and eight touchdowns.
As a senior, he would help the Pioneer squad to an 8-3 record, while notching 31 catches for 596 yards and 10 scores. Miller has already enrolled at Michigan, and, based upon his drive for success, could possibly see the field early.
His Commitment Comments
"I committed right away," he said, "It's something I waited for and I wanted to seize the opportunity. Coach Rodriguez told me he liked me every since he met me at camp. He said not only was I a solid kid on the field, but said I was a good kid off the field.”
"I'm going to Michigan and that’s not going to change. It was a dream come true."
GoBlueWolverine Commentary
Miller is a physical presence. He is a rare physical package at the wide receiver position with a 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame. He has a great blend strength and speed for his size, and projects to be a No. 1 go to guy receiver in the future. With his size and speed, Miller is not afraid to run the routes over the middle. Has great hands and is a dynamic blocker. Couple that with the ability to shed defenders with well defined routes, and you get a down the field deep threat every play. His size and tenacity make him versatile, and he has tried positions such tight end spot and sometimes even defensive end.
