Two Recruiting Tidbits

Prescott Burgess

Lots of calls last night, not too much to show for it. However, here are a couple tidbits on Ky. DB Brandent Englemon, and on commitment Prescott Burgess.

Yours truly made calls into the homes of Brandent Englemon and Prescott Burgess; here are a couple pertinent tidbits on each of them.

A family member of defensive back Brandent Englemon (6-0, 180 lbs., 4.5 in the 40, 4.0+ GPA) from Covington, Kentucky, Holmes confirmed that Brandent is visiting Michigan this weekend. Englemon is a busy guy and was out until late with basketball, being the starting point guard, averaging 14+ points a game (in his last game he had 15 points, six assists and five steals). As a quarterback for his 3-8 football team he completed 92 of 177 passes for 1,239 and 14 touchdowns, and also rushed for 767 yards and four touchdowns. He also played defensive back in seven games, recording 27 tackles. He was a three-year starter at quarterback. Off the field Englemon, a Kentucky Governor's Scholar, has a 4.9 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Englemon committed to Kentucky back in November, when Guy Morris was coach; Morris has taken the Baylor job.

Regarding All-American ‘athlete' Prescott Burgess (Dec. 13 official visit, 2002 Michigan camper, 6-3, 220 lbs., 4.59 in the 40 at the OSU Camp, 3.0 GPA/16 ACT) from Warren, Ohio, Harding. In our process of interviewing Michigan's commitments for the upcoming Signing Day Magazine issue, a member of the Burgess household told us that Prescott is back on the Harding basketball team. We take this as as favorable situation, since the Harding basketball coach is Steve Arnold, brother of former Michigan defensive back David Arnold.
