Marcus Rush Takes in Big House BBQ

Marcus Rush Takes in Big House BBQ

The defensive product from the Buckeye State made his third trek up North to check out the Michigan Wolverines. Are they still his leader? Was he close to committing over the weekend? GoBlueWolverine gets the latest.

Cincinnati Moeller defensive end Marcus Rush is no stranger to the University of Michigan. Since the early parts of 2009 when he first received his Wolverine offer, he has visited Ann Arbor several times. He made yet another pilgrimage Saturday to dig in on some barbecue at the Big House.

"I got there and the first thing we were able to do was get to talk with Coach Rod. We started talking about Michigan football and how things are going for them, and how things are going for me. We all sat down and had some hot dogs and hamburgers and some chicken, and just all got talking. We got to tour the locker room, and the Big House, and I got to walk around more of the campus that I haven't been able to see."

While some might think that over-visiting a certain school can get stale, Rush's third time to Michigan offered yet more differences for the youngster to take in.

"This visit was more relaxed, and I got to talk to Coach Robinson face to face for the first time, and I got to talk to Coach Rodriguez some more. I also got to see the weight room again, and just more of the campus that I didn't see on the past visits."

Getting a chance to talk to a prospective defensive coordinator is probably high on every defensive products list, and for Rush it's no different. Robinson had some very encouraging words for the Queen City prospect.

"He was just telling me that he was excited about me coming, or hopefully coming, and telling me how I could help benefit the football team and talking about what it's like playing for Michigan. He was just telling me I'm really athletic and I have the right form to be at the Quick position."

Rush had previously named the Wolverines his leader following the past two trips to Ann Arbor, and after the third, when the question was posed, Rush answered without hesitation, naming the Maize and Blue as still at the top of his chart.

"Oh yes sir. And still there is nothing that I've seen that is a negative. I still want to take some visits though and compare some schools and narrow things down. I don't really have a time frame for it to happen, but probably, definitely, before my senior season."

As the summer goes on, many prospects will hit several camps, and with the Wolverines hosting one in the coming weeks, it would seem Rush would be anxious to show what he can do. That, however, isn't the case, as his schedule appears to be filled with visits that don't involve camps.

"No, I don't think I'm going to be going to any camps. I just want to take some visits really."
