There was tons of talent at the Scout.com/Badger Sports 7 on 7 at the University of South Florida ... but no position was as loaded as the safety position.

SAFETIES COVER GROUND

Alec Ogletree - 6’3” 210 Newnan High School, GA

After watching film, I still had some doubts in regards to how good this kid is. After watching him this weekend, all doubts are gone. Ogletree has legit size, and showed has the ability and skills to make safety his permanent home on the next level. He was intense from start to finish, and has the trait all the great one have, the ability to make their teammates better. Ogletree broke up more than a dozen passes, a good number of them were interceptions. He has great range and unbelievable quickness for a kid that size.

Matt Elam - 6’1” 205 William Dwyer High School, FL

Worked out at both safety and linebacker, competing at a very high level at both positions. Athletically, he’s off the charts, almost freakish. Elam routinely made plays on the ball, 20-30 yards down the field. He covers a lot of ground quickly. Elam was too strong for slot receivers usually muscling, sometimes tossing them to the ground. Plays with swagger and attitude, but consistently backs up his words with his play on the field.

Jarrick Williams - 6’2” 200 Mattie Blount High School, AL

Built like a linebacker, but surprised everyone with his skills at safety. Williams moves well laterally, and had enough speed to run and cover some of the fastest players the state of Florida has to offer. He also played the deep ball the deep ball well, and broke up numerous post and hook routes.

Jonathan Dowling - 6’4” 185 Southeast High School, FL

It took me awhile to figure out who the tall kid in the secondary that kept intercepting passes was. After a closer look, it was Jonathan Dowling. The “South Florida Express Team” literally went the wrong route, and tried to punk him as if he was soft skinny kid. His ability to break on the ball is special, and consistently made big plays from his free safety spot.

Marvin Robinson - 6’1” 204 Lake Region High School, FL

Expectations were high, but Robinson proved he’s worthy of all the praise he’s been receiving for over two years now. The first thing that stands out about Robinson is that he’s fundamentally sound, and he always puts himself in a position to make a play on the ball. He kept everything in front of him, never allowing opposing player to behind him. Robinson even made a couple plays on the ball that he picked off for interceptions.

Demar Dorsey - 6’1” 175 Boyd Anderson High School, FL

Dorsey has a slender a frame, but man can he run! The problem is that he often relies on his physical gifts; he’ll stop moving his feet after his backpedal and get caught out of position. The skills are there, including his long arms and great hops. Just needs to put it all together.

Jaylen Watkins - 6’1” 180 Cape Coral High School, FL

There is no doubting that Watkins is one of the best players in the country. The question is: what position does he play in the next level? After close observing him for two days, I think there’s a good chance he’ll be a corner. His measurable are legit, but with his frame, it will be tough for him to hold up at safety. The great thing about this is that Watkins excels at corner also. He has great hips and a smooth back pedal.

Eric Dungy - 6’1” 170 Plant High School, FL

The surprise of the camp! The son of Tony Dungy, was born to play the game of football. He has excellent ball skills, and broke up the final pass attempt versus “Team Florida” that propelled his team to the semi finals of the tournament.
