Lewan Set To Visit Michigan

One of the nations fastest rising prospects was originally slated to visit Ann Arbor for their final game against Northwestern, however had to reschedule due to his high school team still being in the playoffs. When is the visit rescheduled for? Will he bring a friend?

Taylor Lewan has long since been flying up many recruiting boards across the country due to his 6’6” 270 pound frame. Chaparral’s offensive tackle has seen a flood of offers come in from across the country and due to such pressure hasn’t been able to narrow down many of the schools.

However, Michigan is one of the few lucky schools that will receive a visit from the outstanding offensive lineman. Originally scheduled to be in for the Northwestern game on November 15th, the visit had to be re-done to accommodate his high school’s deep run into the Arizona state playoffs.

“The reason why was between my dad and Coach Dews. We were talking because I’d have to take a red-eye flight out and the plane complications and the game being at noon would have been difficult for me to get up there on time. We won our first playoff game 51-7” Lewan explained.

Although Michigan fans had possibly taken this as a sign the interest in Michigan had somewhat diminished, Lewan insists that isn’t the case, and his visit has indeed been rescheduled for the December 6th weekend.

“I like Michigan a lot. I love Michigan. They’re a great school. Not the best year this year but that doesn’t have any effect on my decision at all. If anything, from playing wise, it’s probably better for me. I like Michigan a lot. But at the same time I like a lot of schools, so I haven’t narrowed anything down yet.”

Even though his list hasn’t been narrowed, the Maize and Blue have a constant stream of influence introducing itself into Lewan’s ear on a daily basis from his teammate, friend, and Michigan commit Craig Roh.

“He talks to me a lot about it. There are kids on the team, Ohio State fans, who give him crap about their record. But he definitely loves Michigan, and he’s always talking to me about it.”

Many who follow recruiting have long been wary of recruits from warmer climates being turned off by the blistery winters of the north when the venture for winter-time visits. In Lewan’s case, it’s among several things he’s excited about when he treks to Ann Arbor.

“I just want an opportunity to see everything. My dad tells me how beautiful the campus is, Craig tells me how awesome it is. I just want to see it, I’ve never been to Michigan. I love the snow. I love all four seasons. It’s kind of weird since I live in Arizona, but I like the negative 30’s. I like the changes of the seasons.” While the weather aspect of his visit will almost surely hold up it’s end, it’ll do some more impressing on an influential person in Taylor’s decision; his father. And, there is a small possibility a friend will be joining as well.

“My dad will be coming with me. Craig and I talked about it. We haven’t really set anything up, there is a possibility he might come with me.”

Michigan fans will also get a chance to see Lewan in January when he heads to Florida for a high school all-star game.

“I’m playing in the Under Armour All American game in January. I’m not sure if I’ll make an announcement. I’ll have to talk to my family and my coaches. I’m kind of just playing football.”
