Blake McLimans
Power Forward 6'10/210lbs
Worcester Academy (Worcester, MA)
NR: ***    Position Rank: N/A

His Recruiting Story:
As a multi-talented athlete, Blake McLimans had a choice to make after his senior season; baseball or basketball. He never truly concentrated on a single sport, he wanted to see, with extensive training how good he could eventually become. He eventually picked the game of basketball and transferred from Hamburg High School in Buffalo, NY to Worcester Academy in MA to focus on his selected craft.

Word got out about Blake. A 6'10 smooth shooting athlete who can run the floor? Who doesn't need one of those? After transferring from Hamburg, several schools began showing major interest Boston College, Georgia Tech, UCONN and Providence.

His Father Jeffery gave his input about his son’s game.

"For his size, his three point shooting (is a huge strength), Mr. McLimans explained. And his ability to make other people better from his passing, and all of the little things. He plays the game; it's not one dimensional. He has a pretty good skill set, and inside and outside game, so he could create some matchup problems. And he really has a passion for the game."

The recruiting process for McLimans wasn't as drawn out as it is for most prospects, he knew what he was looking for right away. Being a Buffalo native, McLimans and his father connected with Coach Beilein and his staff immediately. Mr. McLimans explain what was told to them on their official visit to Ann Arbor.

"Coach Beilein is looking forward to the future. He is looking forward to getting his recruits and take advantage of the talent that's there now. Get a nice blend of everybody. He told Blake that there would be, unlike at a lot of universities, a lot of individual work and skill development. Coach thinks that's very important…thirty to forty minutes a day. That was different compared to the other places we've been."

Leaving Ann Arbor, McLimans now felt he found the right place to take his game. He verbally committed to Beilein and the Wolverines on October 29th making him the fourth and final recruit to verbally commit and sign during the early signing period.

GoBlueWolverine Commentary
Very lean at this stage but has a full year to put on bulk at his new prep school known for producing D1 players. Reportedly can shoot from beyond the three point line on a consistent basis. Has a very nice touch on short range shots, but must work a bit on post moves.

Another Mike Curtis project, but could be a star in this offense in the future. Will replace Deshawn Sims at the power forward position in 2010. UM could have a huge front court if freshman center Ben Cronin develops into what the staff thinks he could be. This class will be fun to watch develop.
