Taylor Lewan Waits On Scores
One could argue that no one in the nation has been on a hotter streak in recent months than Taylor Lewan, the left tackle for his Chaparral High School team in Scottsdale, Ariz. In the past month or so he has pulled in major FBS offers left and right from the likes of Michigan, Oregon, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Miami, as well as from his two home state schools Arizona and Arizona State. Lewan filled in GoBlueWolverine on the latest for him. "Our season is going great, but we just lost for the first time this weekend to Corey Adams team ... and now we're 6-1. I've been playing only offensive tackle -- on the left side." Other than his team's first loss of the season, recruiting has still been going strong for the 6'6.5" 270 pound road grader. "Well the last school to offer was Miami. I have to wait for my SAT scores to come in to really start setting up official visits, but I'll be coming to Michigan. I just talked to Coach Dews last Thursday" Lewan informed GBW. This means a tentative MSU game official visit is postponed - but a definite Michigan visit will be happening for Lewan. There are several factors for his interest in the Wolverines -- one being his teammate, defensive end and Michigan commit Craig Roh. "Craig's in my ear all the time about Michigan. He was just telling me all about it, and how wonderful of a place it is and how the games there are just amazing. Even when he went to the Utah game and they lost he was telling me how cool it was and that the atmosphere was great." While it may be no surprise that a friend and teammate would be giving a lot of reasons to join them, no matter which university, there is a surprise from somewhere unexpected. "My dad has always liked Michigan. In fact, he wanted to go there but he ended up going to Minnesota instead because he lived in Canada for a while and that's where 'everyone went'." "I like a lot about Michigan; I really like that they have the largest alumni base in the world. Everyone knows Michigan; it's just a good feeling to know they want you." Such comments could lead to speculation that Michigan is out in the lead for the signature of Taylor; however that is not the case, and a decision date isn't even set until he receives his test scores. "I don't have any top schools yet, I've just got to get those scores in (note: a college needs the test scores, no matter how high or low, in order to schedule an official visit). Until then things are at a stand still. And I have to talk to my dad and my coaches to see what's best for me."
