Calif. CB Leon Hall's Coach Tells Top Five

GoBlueWolverine.com was able to speak with Coach Chris Hauser of Vista High School (Vista, California) about his big time corner prospect Leon Hall.
Vista, California's All-American Cornerback
Leon Hall
(USC Nike Stats: 5-11, 175 lbs., 4.42 in the 40, 4.19 shuttle, 33 inch vertical jump) burst upon the national recruiting scene at the USC Nike Camp in April. Greg Biggins of Pacwestfootball.com observed Leon’s performance at the camp and said that he displayed the "ability to lock up every receiver he went up against." That evaluation was backed up when he observed Leon again at the Edison passing tournament in July. Greg’s take on Leon’s skills is obviously shared by a number of schools, evidenced by the slew of offers that have some Leon’s way. Among them was an offer from Michigan. Leon has a visit set for Ann Arbor the weekend of January 10.
Hall's head coach, Chris Hauser (who I spoke with just briefly Wednesday), has described Leon to us in the past as, "A Quentin Jammer type player." That’s lofty praise to lay upon a high school kid. However, it sounds like Leon is making that comparison extremely accurate.
How is Leon’s season going so far?
"It’s going VERY well!"
Is he seeing much action on his side of the field?
"Yeah, he’s been challenged. We have some cocky people around here! (laughing)"
We know about his coverage skills. Is he holding up well in run support?
"Oh Yeah! We really like him in run support. He’s a very solid tackler and he’ll come up and put his nose right in there."
Do you know if he has a top five?
"I have a rough idea of his top five. Michigan is 1, Colorado is 2, then Washington, Oregon, and USC."
That’s in order?
"Yes."
Do you have any idea of what he’s going to want to major in once he gets to school?
"I do not. I’ve asked him that and he’s not sure at this point himself."
Hall is The Insiders' #15 cornerback. GoBlueWolverine will be catching up with Coach Hauser (and Leon himself) again in the coming days.
