Buckeyes Beatdown Blue

Michigan dropped its regular season finale to the Ohio State Buckeyes for the fourth straight season with a 14-3 loss at Michigan Stadium earlier this afternoon. Mike Hart rushed for just 44 yards while Chad Henne threw for just 68.
ANN ARBOR --
Near the end of the first quarter, the Wolverines marched 49-yards on one possession setting up a 33-yard
field goal to make it 3-0
They got just 42 yards the remainder of the night as
defense stifled the Michigan offense and the Buckeyes cruised to a 14-3 win over the Wolverines on Saturday afternoon at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.
Ohio State running back
scored both Buckeye touchdowns and rushed for 222 yards on 39 carries in Ohio State's fourth straight win against the Wolverines, and Ohio State coach Jim Tressel's sixth win in seven opportunities.
"Its special for our kids. I mean, we've had wonderful kids and they work so hard at it," Tressel said after the win. "This game means so much to them, and for them to be able to accomplish that is special for every kid that is a part of any one of those four."
Chris "Beanie" Wells has been a part of just two of those games, but his impact has been evident. With 282 yards and three scores against the Wolverines, Wells has been a Wolverines killer.
"Beanie Wells is a difference maker -- he's physical, he's a fiery guy. You could tell in the locker room before the game that he wanted to put the team on his shoulders and go with it. He's the best. He's the best back in the Big Ten in my opinion and we vote tomorrow (for all-conference) all of you," Tressel said.
After forcing a Michigan punt on the Wolverines second possession of the third quarter, Wells provided the dagger to a Michigan team that struggled all day. Taking the ball through the left side of the line, Wells burst into space and ran over the Wolverines last line of defense for a 62-yard score to make it 14-3.
"Yeah, they had that one big play, but Coach (English) made some adjustments and we went in there and fought hard," Michigan linebacker
said on the touchdown run.
"This is a game you want to give your all to. They kept giving a couple pops here and there, and we did our best to adjust to it and stop the run to try to get a three-and-out."
Adjustments may have worked, and the Wolverines defense got critical three-and-outs in each of the final two quarters, but the Buckeyes defense was better.
were each held in check as the Michigan offense struggled to eke out just 91 yards of offense.
"We didn't think we were going to be this bad off. We made a lot of mistakes out there. Give credit to the (Ohio State) defense. They came up with a great game and had a good scheme against us. The defense did a great job," Hart said.
Hart finished with 44 yards rushing on 18 carries. Quarterback Chad Henne connected on just 11-of-34 passes for just 68 yards.
After the opening field goal, the Wolverines best scoring opportunities came following an interception return by
and a short punt from Ohio State's
. Ohio State forced a three-and-out following both circumstances.
Michigan concludes the regular season with an 8-4 record. The Wolverines now await a their bowl destination in the coming weeks.
