Buckeyes Choke Wolverines, 14-3. Drives/Stats

Where to start? U-M kicked a field goal at the end of the first quarter, and managed no other points. U-M got just 1 first down in the second half. U-M managed just 91 total yards of offense. And U-M lost it's 4th straight to OSU, 14-3. Here are the so-called drives, and the game stats.

OSU took the opening kickoff to the OSU 34. OSU drove on the ground, getting 2 first downs to the U-M 43, but the drive stalled at the U-M 37 at the 10:42 mark.

After a touchback on the punt, U-M took the ball at their 20, and went 3 and out.

OSU took the 42 yard punt at their 32 yard line at the 10:02 mark. OSU got one 1st down to the OSU 44 ... then Todd Boeckman fumbled on first down back to the OSU 39, on 2nd down Boeckman slipped down at the OSU 29 ... on 3rd down Wells fell down at the OSU 26.

U-M took the punt to the U-M 36 at the 5:59 mark. U-M got 4 first downs, one on an 8 yard completion from Chad Henne to Mario Manningham to the U-M 44, one on a 5 yard completion to Adrian Arrington to the OSU 37, a 3rd on a 6 yard completion to Carson Butler too the OSU 25, and a 4th on a 12 yard Hart run to the OSU 13. But, thanks to a sack by Vernon Gholston, the drive stalled at the OSU 16.

K.C. Lopata kicked a 33 yard field goal at the 1:37 mark.

Michigan 3, OSU 0

OSU took the ensuing kickoff to the OSU 27. OSU got a first downs on a pass interference call on Trent to the OSU 42. But then on 3rd down Todd Boeckman fumbled (and recovered) and OSU had to punt as the quarter ended.

SECOND QUARTER

U-M took the punt at their 18 yard line, and went 3 and out as Henne got sacked on 3rd down at the U-M 11 at the 13:45 mark.

OSU took the punt to the U-M 44. OSU got 3 first downs, one on a 9 yard pass to the U-M 29, another on a 5 yard run by Wells to the U-M 17, another on a 12 yard run by Wells to the U-M 5 ... and Well took it in for a 1 yard TD at the 10:08 mark.

OSU 7, Michigan 3

U-M took the ensuing kickoff at their 20. U-M got 1 first down on a 10 yard completion to Manningham to the U-M 34, but then on first down U-M got moved back to the U-M 24 on a holding call ... and the drive stalled.

OSU took the 49 yard punt from the OSU 28 to the OSU 39 at the 7:06 mark. OSU got 1 first down on the ground to the 50, but U-M held at the U-M 47 at the 5:00 mark.

U-M took the punt on a fair catch at their 21, and went 3 and out.

Zoltan Mesko boomed a 68 yard punt to the OSU 4 at the 3:05 mark, and OSU went 3 and out at the 2:45 mark.

U-M fielded the punt at the 50 at the 2:17 mark ... and went three and out.

The punt went for a touchback and OSU took the ball at their 20 at the 1:56 mark. OSU got 2 first downs, one on 2 runs by Wells to the OSU 31 at the 1:14 mark, another on a 15 yard pass to the OSU 46. Then on first down Boeckman got sacked at the OSU 44 at the :31 mark. And on 2nd down Brandent Englemon intercepted a pass at the U-M 34 and took it back to the OSU 33 at the :21 mark.

U-M only gained 1 yard, and Lopata missed a 48 yard field goal as the half ran out.

HALFTIME STATS:

OSU only had 110 yards, U-M only 77

Mike Hart has 11 carries for 44 yards
Chris Wells had 18 carries for 56 yards

Chad Henne was 7-16 for 44 yards
Todd Boeckman was 6-9 for 35 yards and an int.

THIRD QUARTER

U-M took the opening kickoff at their 14 thanks to a holding call ... and went 3 and out.

OSU fielded the punt at their 36 and returned it for a TD ... but a penalty nullified the return and OSU took over at their 38. However, on the first play Chris Wells ran 62 yards for a TD at the 13:35 mark.

Ohio State 14, Michigan 3

**And that was how the game ended up ... no further scoring.

U-M took the ensuing kickoff at their 19 ... and went 3 and out.

OSU took the punt at their 32, got 2 first downs, then punted.

U-M started at their 18 at the 7:56 mark .. and went 3 and out.

OSU took the punt at their 36 .. and went 3 and out.

U-M took the punt at their 20 at the 3:40 mark. With Ryan Mallett at QB, U-M got 1 first down, then punted.

FOURTH QUARTER

OSU took the punt at their 19 ... and went 3 and out.

Greg Mathews returned the punt from OSU 31 to the OSU 46 ... but with Henne back at QB, U-M went 3 and out.

OSU took the punt at the OSU 11 ... and went 3 and out.

U-M took the punt at their 30 at the 11:10 mark ... and went 3 and out.

OSU took the punt at their 26 ...and went 3 and out.

U-M took the punt at their 32 at the 7:42 mark ... and went 3 and out.

OSU took the punt at their 33 ... and went 3 and out.

U-M took the punt at their 43 at the 4:04 mark ... and turned the ball over on downs.

OSU took the ball at the U-M 43 ... and got 2 first downs to run out the clock.

FINAL STATS

OSU gained 279 yards, 50 passing and 229 on the ground.
U-M gained 91 yards, 76 passing and just 15 rushing.

Mike Hart had 18 carries for 44 yards, 2.4 yards per carry.
Chris Wells had 39 carries for 22 yards, 5.7 yards per carry.

Chad Henne was 11-34 for 68 yards.
Todd Boeckman was 7-13 for 50 yards and an int.

Mario Manningham had 5 receptions for 34 yards.

Zoltan Mesko punted 12 times for a 45.9 yard average.
