Just to be at the spring game wearing the recruit tag was huge for Holt OT
Austin Holtz. The 6’5, 260-lber came to Ann Arbor for the first time
as a recruit, but apparently, that’s where his heart had been for some
time.
” I have been a lifelong fan,” Holtz said of the Wolverines. “Just
being able to go there as a recruit and talking to the coaches really was a
treat. They said they want to see me at camp, so I’ll go down there
for a couple days in June and then we’ll go from there.”
Holtz played last season at both right and left tackle earning 2nd team Dream
Team honors from the Lansing State Journal. He does also have the ability to
move inside and play guard and many schools will look at him on the interior
as well.
Holtz currently holds an offer from Eastern Michigan and is also receiving
interest from Grand Valley State. The Lakers are of interest to him because
his mentor and older brother Brian plays there.
”It would be nice to play with my brother again since I look up to him
so much but I am definitely not settling with [GVSU]," said Holtz. "My goal
is to play D1, it always has and always will be.”
There is a lot left to be decided for Holtz and this summer will be a big
part in determining his future and whether or not he’ll gain an offer
from his favorite team.
"That would be really awesome if they did offer,” he said, “but
I just really don’t know right now.”
