A top mid-Atlantic offensive lineman drove to the University of Michigan through the night last night ... GoBlueWolverine spoke with him as he was on the road with his older brother. He doesn't have a Michigan offer yet, but his other offers are an indication that he could well get one very soon ...
Lane Clelland
is a 6-foot-5, 265-pound offensive lineman from McDonough Prep School in Owings Mills, Maryland. Lane's older brother Lance was a 3-year starter at linebacker for Northwestern from 1999-2001, so the Clellands are no strangers to Big Ten country. GoBlueWolverine spoke with him as he and his brother (now a coach at McDonough) were driving toward Ann Arbor last night.
Are you coming to Ann Arbor this weekend?
"Yes. In fact we're in the car driving to Michigan right now. We will go to Schembechler Hall tomorrow (Friday) at 10 AM."
What is Michigan saying to you about a scholarship? Do you think will offer you while you're there?
"Will they offer me tomorrow? I really don't know ... I hope so."
What schools have offered you so far?
"Maryland, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Northwestern."
Who have you been talking to, or in contact with, from Michigan?
"Coach Campbell is my area recruiter for Michigan."
"But I've been talking to Coach Moeller (U-M offensive line coach) about this visit -- in fact I just got off the phone with him a little while ago."
Are you going anywhere else this weekend?
"From Ann Arbor we'll drive to Chicago, and I'll visit Northwestern and then Notre Dame as well."
As far as a timetable, Lane said he is not necessarily in any hurry, and he plans to take in some one-day camps this summer.
