Darius Fleming continues to pile up scholarship offers at a rampant pace, securing another two from Michigan and Boston College over the past 24 hours. With 10 offers in the bag, Fleming has a lot to be happy about right now.
Darius Fleming
, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound outside linebacker/defensive end from Chicago, Ill., picked up offers from the Michigan Wolverines and the Boston College Eagles today. While Fleming was well aware the first would be coming, the second turned out to be a pleasant surprise.
“I knew Michigan was going to offer last night when I talked to Coach (Steve) Szabo,” Fleming said. “He said they really liked me at outside linebacker at first, but after speaking to the defensive line coach they decided to leave me at defensive end. I talked to Coach (Lloyd) Carr today to make it official which was a pretty quick conversation. I like Michigan a lot and have been there before, but would like to see more of the campus and what they offer, so I’m going to try and get up there once more if possible before I make my decision. I know they’ve always been a very successful program and always have good players. I’ve also gotten along well with the coaches I’ve met.”
“The first time I’ve ever spoken to anyone at Boston College was last night,” Fleming explained. “So anyway, today I’m in class and have these two pieces of paper handed to me from Boston College. The first page just has the general information you get about camps and what not, so I wasn’t expecting to see much on the second sheet. When I get to the second sheet, it’s an official offer to play football there! I really didn’t expect that to be coming so soon, but I’m certainly not complaining about it.”
As a junior, Fleming registered 105 tackles, with 15 for loss, nine sacks, forced four fumbles, recovered three fumbles and tipped six passes. He was named first team All-City, All-Conference and All-State.
