Youngstown Ohio's Cardinal Mooney won the Div. 4 Ohio State Championship in '06. Their stars: QB/DB Dan McCarthy, FB/LB Michael Zordich, and RB/LB Brandon Beechum. McCarthy and Zordich made it to the early part of U-M's Junior Day this past Saturday. GBW spoke with Michael Zordich about it.
Michael Zordich
(6-2, 220) stars on both sides of the ball for Youngstown Ohio's Cardinal Mooney. As a fullback he rushed for (GBW's unofficial stats) 1,000 yards and 18 touchdowns, and he starred at MLB as well.
GoBlueWolverine
spoke to him about his U-M Junior Day experience.
You were at the Michigan Junior Day?
"Yes. I had to leave early to go play in my own basketball game."
How did the game turn out?
"Good; we won."
Did you meet with Coach Carr at the Junior Day? Tell us a little about it.
"Yes. My parents and I talked to Coach Carr for a little while. We were really impressed with him and the facilities. My parents were really impressed with the Michigan coaches and the facilities as well."
Did Michigan offer you Saturday?
"Not yet. I've been in contact with Loeffler almost everyday, texting back and forth, but until they figure out what position they want me to play I'm waiting to hear about the offer."
Who has offered you?
"Just LSU at this point."
What other Junior Days are you attending or have you attended?
"I would like to get to Ohio State, Penn State, and maybe Notre Dame."
Who else do you want to hear from?
"I want to hear from Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame, any other Big Ten schools, Florida, Florida State, and Arizona. My dad went to Penn State so I grew up rooting for them but its no influence on my decision. I'm wide open right now and ready to take my visits and see how they go."
What position do you want to play in college?
"At this point I'm not sure what position I will be playing at this point but I'm really open to either, linebacker or fullback."
Are you planning on coming to Michigan's camp this summer?
"I'm looking into attending the senior day, which is one camp day, at this time."
