Gateway High School in Monroeville, Pa. (Pittsburgh area) has two top junior prospects. GoBlueWolverine spoke to LB Shayne Hale a week ago; here is the second member of their Dynamic Duo, Ath. Cameron Saddler.
Cameron Saddler
is a "mighty mite" at 6-foot-6, 160 pounds. But the Monroeville, Pa., Gateway athlete has several big-time schools coming after him, including a certain one in Ann Arbor.
GoBlueWolverine
spoke to Saddler Sunday evening.
Has Michigan been in contact with you?
"Yes sir, on and off. Michigan coaches would come to the school in December and January."
Are you planning to come to Michigan's Junior Day this coming Saturday?
"I am. Shayne (LB
Shayne Hale
, who has a U-M offer) is making the trip, and I'm making the trip with him. We're still not quite 100% sure about it, but we're planning on it."
You guys came to a Rose Bowl practice in December ...
"Yes sir. Shayne and I went to Ann Arbor, we observed practice. It was so smoothly run, the players knew exactly what to do, the coaches didn't have to tell them."
What schools have offered you?
"I have offers from Pitt, North Carolina, Temple and Virginia."
What position are colleges recruiting you for?
"I'll definitely be a kick returner. Some schools are also talking to me about wide receiver, others cornerback."
You're a blazer - what is your best 40 time?
"I ran a 4.37 40 at the Metro Index combine."
Note: Saddler also attended the 2006 Army Combine as a sophomore, where he ran an excellent 4.1 sec. shuttle.
Are you thinking of any camps for the summer?
"I'm not 100% sure; me and Shayne will sit down and talk about it ... we'll do this together."
It has been written that Michigan is your favorite school?
"Yeah, after we came back from the Ann Arbor trip ... I fell in love with Michigan."
"Virginia is probably my favorite right now because they have offered me."
"But U-M is right up there."
