GoBlueWolverine keeps checking in with the families of Michigan recruits who do not yet have official visits set. Two of the most intriguing kids are N.Y. OL John Elliott and Florida CB/Ath. Doug Wiggins. Here is the latest on both.
GoBlueWolverine
checked in briefly with the father of East Meadow, N.Y. offensive lineman
John Elliott
regarding whether John has his official visit dates set:
"We're going to be talking about it tonight and tomorrow night."
"We have talked to the coaches of all of John's five schools but one."
"His five are Rutgers, Michigan, Boston College, Visginia and West Virginia."
"So we're just crunching the dates -- we'll have them by mid-week."
Elliott had talked about a Dec. 8 Michigan visit, so
GBW
will check with the Elliotts in a couple days to see if this date holds true.
Regarding North Miami Beach cornerback/athlete (HS QB)
Doug Wiggins
(5-11, 180):
GBW
keeps checking in with his parents as well about his season and about a U-M official visit date.
Wiggins has been planning to graduate in December and had hoped to take official visits during the season, but only got to Georgia on the Oct. 20 weekend. U-M had been tentatively planned for the next week, Oct. 27th, but traveling to in-season official visits proved too difficult.
Led by Wiggins as a run-pass quarterback, the North Miami Chargers are still in the Florida state playoffs (the first time the team has ever gotten beyond the first round), playing in the semi-finals this Friday, where they are pretty big underdogs to top-ranked Miami Northwestern. If they lose, it is assumed that Wiggins will quickly set up a Michigan visit for the Dec. 8 weekend.
Georgia and Michigan are currently Wiggins' top two schools according to the Miami Herald this week (
). West Virginia may also get a visit before he decides, or possibly Oklahoma or South Carolina.
Wiggins is considered underrated as a Four-star prospect and Scout.com's #39 Southeast prospect. He is a first-tier cover corner prospect.
By the way, Wiggins has two cousins playing for Western Michigan University, where a former North Miami coach is an assistant ... in fact a month or so ago the Kalamazoo (Mich.) paper ran a story on Wiggins and mistakenly said he'd visit WMU ... the paper confused his U-M interest with WMU.
