Texas Linebacker Has Michigan No. 1

GoBlueWolverine chatted Monday afternoon with linebacker Brandon Herron from Sugar Land, Texas. Will the teammate of Troy Woolfolk become the next Michigan commitment, number 16? GBW asked him that and other questions.

GoBlueWolverine chatted Monday afternoon with Linebacker Brandon Herron (6-2, 200) from Sugar Land, Texas, Dulles.

At the Texas A&M Nike Combine this spring Herron's measurables were outstanding: 4.55 sec. 40, 4.25 sec. shuttle, 37.5 inch vertical, 21 bench press reps. And by the middle of October of this his senior season he'd become a top Michigan target.

Sugar Land Dulles is the high school that Michigan commitment Troy Woolfolk attends ... we asked GoBlueWolverine asked Herron to confirm what Troy told us the day before:

"Yes, I'll be visiting Michigan on December 1st. Troy and I will be visiting together."

Back in the late summer and early fall it looked like Nebraska was going to be your destination, but that has changed?

"Right now it's Michigan for me, and for my dad. We are both liking Michigan."

So any chance you'll commit to Michigan at your visit?

"Will I commit at the visit? It's quite possible. If everything goes well, and my dad and I get a good feeling when we are there."

Are there any other schools in the running?

"My dad is talking about is Oklahoma State some. But right now it's Michigan, for both of us."

What has attracted you to Michigan now?

"I like Michigan's depth chart at linebacker -- they've shown it to me. And it doesn't look like they have many linebacker recruits this year either. And of course Michigan is a great school."

Did Michigan offer you during the season?

"Actually, to me, Michigan has been recruiting me all along. Coach Jackson (Fred Jackson, U-M's East Texas recruiter) came to the school saw me back in the spring ... we were having spring practice and Coach Jackson told me Michigan would be offering me. So he's been recruiting me since then."

Well your measurables are great! What would you say is the strength of your game?

"The strength of my game -- speed."
