Manningham Has Surgery; Prognosis Good

Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr confirmed this morning that star sophomore wideout Mario Manningham underwent arthroscopic knee surgery to repair his right knee. The veteran field general also indicated that the prognosis is very good.

"We got great news as far as the injury," Carr said regarding Mario Manningham during his segment of the weekly Big Ten Teleconference. "He'll miss this week, but we're very excited about the news we received."

Carr's comment suggest a return prior to conclusion of the 2006 season, but he was not yet ready to speculate on when that might be.

"I can't tell you that," he said. "The news is great, and we're excited about the news we received."
