The Chicago Sun-Times has the story in this morning's editions: surburban Chicago interior offensive lineman Dave Molk has given Michigan his verbal commitment in a come-from-behind recruiting battle over the Iowa Hawkeyes.
From the Chicago Sun-Times:
Commitments Begin Again: MOLK PICKS MICHIGAN.
Here are excerpts from the story:
"When Lemont coach Eric Michaelsen first saw
Dave Molk
, he didn't project him as a Division I football player.
"Now the 6-2, 270-pound center is headed for the Big Ten. He made an oral commitment Wednesday to Michigan.
"No small achievement for a kid who could bench-press only 110 pounds as a 5-6, 175-pound freshman.
"Molk, who has emerged as the strongest player on the Lemont squad (he benches 390 pounds and squats 575), said he chose Michigan ''because coaches always say you will get the feeling that will tell you where you want to go. After visiting Michigan last weekend, I had that feeling.''
''My goal since I started to play football was to play big-time college football. For a long time, I didn't fit the profile. But now I realize all that work was worthwhile. My next goal is to play in the NFL.''
Molk is Michigan Commitment number ten.
