Add Dionte Allen's name to the list of Michigan's recruiting targets that finished
up their track seasons in successful fashion. The 6-0, 180-pounder was a part
of a relay team that brought home two state titles for Orchard Lake St. Mary's…one
in the 4x100 (with a time of 42.86) and one in the 4x200 (with a time of 1:28.38).
"We came together and did our thing," said Allen who teamed with
fellow division one prospects Taurian Washington, Aaron Gant, and Anthony Bowman
on the relay squads. "We actually set a new record in the 4x200. I believe
my split was 21-something."
The Eaglets bested Lansing Sexton's 1:28.67 mark that was set back in 2002.
Now that track is over, Allen plans to pay more attention to his recruitment.
First up will be a visit to Michigan's campus in a few weeks.
"I was talking to Coach E (AKA, Michigan DC Ron English) about it and
I'm probably coming down for the camp," he said. "We've been texting
back and forth about it. I'm not sure which day, but I should be down there…and
I will be working out."
The other visit Allen will be sure to take this summer is one to Tallahassee
to check out Florida State's campus. However, he does not plan to participate
in the Seminoles camp.
"The coach said I didn't have to come to that, so I'm not going,"
said Allen regarding the FSU camp. "I'm just going down there to visit
a bit in July. I'm just going to see what it's like."
