Dave Molk to be a Michigan camper
Posted Jun 7, 2006
As one of the top offensive line prospects in the Midwest, Dave Molk has drawn the attention of coaches across the region. With an impressive offer sheet that includes the majority of the Big 10, Molk has confirmed to GoBlueWolverine Magazine his intentions of participating in the U-M summer camp.
With thousands of prospects across the nation each year, combines and summer camps are now an all-important cog in the recruiting process. It's the combines that provide college coaches with a first glimpse at the talent from coast-to-coast, while summer camps allow the student-athlete a quick peek at what each school has to offer.
Standing at 6-foot-2, 270-pounds,
is one of those prospects who used the summer circuit to his advantage. After a junior season in which the talented center notched all-area honors in the state of
, Molk flew into the combine season under the radar; and then came the Scout.com combine in
“After the Scout.com combine, I received a text message from Coach (Lester) Erb and he told me to give him a call,” Molk said. “I spoke to him as well as Coach Ferentz, and, after a long conversation, Coach Ferentz told me that he was offering me a scholarship.”
Along with Iowa, Molk claims offers from
, with the Wolverines set for their turn at attempting to impress the Lemont Township High School star at the annual Michigan summer camp.
“I haven't narrowed anything down. I've visited everyone that has offered me except for the last three schools and the two MAC schools. I don't have any leader.
“I'm coming to the Michigan camp. I'll be there for one day on June 19. I've been getting recruited by Andy Moeller, the offensive line coach.”
Despite the open list, expect a decision from Molk in the coming weeks.
“I'm going to try and decide before the season. I'd like to decide before it's time to start taking official visits. I'm going to narrow it down to a top three sometime and then I'll go on a final visit to each of those schools and make a decision.”
Molk reports a 3.0 GPA in the classroom and registered a 25 on the ACT. GBW will have more on Dave Molk in the coming weeks.
