Daniel Horton earns All-Big Ten Honors

Michigan senior PG Daniel Horton was named to the All Big Ten First team by the media and the second team by the coaches yesterday.

Daniel Horton became the 21st Wolverine to be named to the All Big Ten First Team when members of the media awarded him with that honor yesterday. The Cedar Hills, Texas native achieved career bests in almost every statistical category during the regular season, including points scored in a game (39), scoring average (17.7), assists per game (5.25), steals per game (1.85), and consecutive free throws (42). He also registered career highs in shooting percentage with 44% from the field, 39.5% from behind the arc, and a blistering 93.7% from the free throw line.

Horton's 39 point outburst versus Illinois late last month was the high point game in conference this year and his free throw percentage (93.7% on 119/127 shooting) is on track to break former Steve Alford's Big Ten record (92.1% on 116/126 shooting) which was set during the 1984/85 season when he played for Indiana.

Since missing a free throw late in the home match-up against Ohio State on February 9th, Horton has reeled of another 39 consecutive makes from the charity stripe.
