Defensive back Marcus English of Trotwood-Madison High School in Trotwood, Ohio grew up a fan of Michigan football. Now, the Wolverines are returning the interest, and it could be just a matter of time before English goes from fan, to being a member of the team.
While he said no offers are yet on the table, defensive back
Marcus English
is receiving interest from some of the top programs in the Midwest. "I'm getting a lot of contact from Louisville, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pitt," he told
GoBlueWolverine.com
on Tuesday.
About the Wolverines, he told us, "I grew up loving Michigan I just love their tradition. Watching them play is a great feeling. If they did offer I might go ahead and commit, I'm not sure. If not then I'll probably wait until Signing Day."
English started out as a linebacker for the Rams, but because of his speed he was moved to cornerback, which is where he wants to play in college. He said he ran a 4.47 in the 40 at a Post Skills camp last summer. As a junior he recorded 40 tackles and an interception.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound English said he would attend the Nike camp at Ohio State on May 5, and the Scout.com combine at Louisville on May 20. "I am going to the Michigan camp in June, and I may go to the camp at Pitt," he said.
Louisville is a program that is getting a lot of attention from English. Along with attending the Scout.com combine, he said he will venture to the Cardinals' campus for a Junior Day. "I went to a game there last fall," he said. "I'm looking at more than just the football program, they have a great school too."
English said he recently visited Purdue. "I liked it, it was all right," he said.
As a junior English recorded 40 tackles, seven pass break-ups and one interception.
