Detroit Cass Tech defensive lineman Joseph Barksdale was in attendance at Crisler
Arena on Tuesday for the basketball team's victory over eighth-ranked Illinois.
The 6-5, 315-pounder had been itching to get back up to a game after missing
a few good ones earlier this season. While taking in the contest, he also found
time to speak with a few members of the football staff.
"They were saying, 'this is what it could be like during the football
games'," Barksdale recalled. "'All the fan support could be for you
if you just come to our school.' It was the usual. They were just saying they
needed me to come there. Coach Carr came midway through the first quarter. Him
and Coach Campbell invited me to some spring practices. They said whenever I
wanted to come up that the door is always open. If I can get a way up there,
I'm going to make it to some."
Another Cass Tech player that may head up for some of the spring sessions is
S/LB Zachary Easterly. Barksdale brought his teammate with him to the basketball
game and the Wolverines indicated that he'll be a player to watch for them
"Zach liked Michigan too" Barksdale said. "He really enjoyed
the game. He's a safety. He played linebacker last season, but he is being recruited
as a safety. I guess he is one of Michigan's newest recruits. He just got his
name out there."
GoBlueWolverine will have more on these two prospects in the coming months.
