Tommy Amaker must think he's in the midle of a nightmare. Yet another injury to another key player
has left Michigan's injury depleted roster even more so. Chris Hunter went down
in a heap very early in the contest versus the Michigan State Spartans Saturday,
and it was clear at that point that something was wrong. The senior co-captain,
who was starting his second game, didn't return to game action and spent the
rest of the afternoon on the bench with ice on his knee.
When the team returned to Ann Arbor and Hunter had his knee analyzed, Amaker
got the bad news. A partially torn medial collateral ligament. "The prognosis
right now is three to six weeks," Amaker said. The best case scenario has
Gary, Indiana native returning for action in the Big Ten tournament.
As for the other inquiries, Lester Abram remains on the shelf and is day to
day, while Jerret Smith and Dion Harris will continue to try to work through
there injures on the court Tuesday night versus Illinois.
