Adam Patterson: "I am going to Michigan."

Defensive lineman Adam Patterson meant to keep his secret until a Signing Day press conference. However, word leaked out, and the four-star talent told GoBlueWolverine.com that he will sign with the Wolverines tomorrow.

Michigan was almost an afterthought for defensive lineman Adam Patterson of Richland Northeast High School in Columbia, S.C. That is until he took an official visit to Ann Arbor. That opened the talented lineman's eyes, and on Tuesday he told GoBlueWolverine.com that he would be heading there to attend school. "There are a lot of people in South Carolina that are mad at me right now," he said. "But I am going to Michigan. I really enjoyed myself up there on my visit, and felt comfortable with the players and the coaches, and the education can't be beat."

The 6-foot-3, 255-pound lineman said he informed Lloyd Carr of his decision on Monday, and said the Michigan head coach was excited and happy to have him aboard. "I'll be up there in July, I can't wait," Patterson said.

Patterson chose the Wolverines over the University of South Carolina, and said his parents are 100-percent behind him. "Of course they would have liked me to stay close to home where they can keep their hands on me," he said. "But they are happy for me, and it was my decision."

Michigan fans will have a chance to hear Patterson, as well as the other new Wolverines, during the GoBlueWolverine.com Signing Day show on Weds. from 3-7 p.m. at Banfields Westside in Ann Arbor.
