As decision time nears, the top remaining defensive target for Michigan in the recruiting class of 2006, Safety Jonas Mouton of Venice, Calif., High School, spoke to GoBlueWolverine.com regarding when he might make an announcement. He also spoke of his experience at the recent U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.
It's now time to relax for Venice, Calif., safety
Jonas Mouton
. After an exciting couple of weeks that saw him participate in the CaliFlorida Bowl on Dec. 31 and the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas on Jan. 7, the five-star standout is taking a break before deciding where he'll spend the next four years of his life. "It's been a lot of fun, but playing in both games, and traveling has been tiring," Mouton said. "I'm going to take it easy for a little while. I don't know yet when I'm going to announce my decision. I won't have a big press conference or anything like that, I'll just let the coaches at each school know."
The 6-foot-2, 208-pound Mouton will decide amongst Michigan, USC, and LSU. He has maintained for some time that he has a favorite, but has not publicly announced the lucky school. He said nothing has changed in that regard. He visited Michigan on Sept. 10, LSU on Oct. 14, and USC on Dec. 12.
Mouton told

in San Antonio that he would most likely not announce his decision at the game. With a contingent of almost 40 family members on hand to watch their star play, speculation was that he might, in fact, announce on NBC. Mouton said he never really gave serious thought to announcing. "I'm not a real flashy guy," he said.
In a game far different than the blowout of the previous year, the East squad defeated the West 27-16. “I think I could have played a little better,” Mouton said. “It was fun and I got to hang out with a lot of the players, but I didn’t like losing.”
The big man didn't say if any coaches would be visiting in the near future, that mainly he was concentrating in school. He said he would participate in track in the spring, running the 200 and 400-meter events.
