Three visits are down for running back Brandon Minor of Varina High School in Richmond, Va. The four-star prospect will take one more, to the home-state school Va. Tech, then decide among the four schools remaining on his list, which includes Michigan.
The need for running backs in the recruiting class of 2006 took a more urgent turn for Michigan with the departure of
Max Martin
, who recently transfered to Alabama. With
Carlos Brown
of Georgia in the fold, the Wolverines may take as many as two more ball-carriers, one of which could be 6-foot-0, 210-pound
Brandon Minor
of Varina High School in Richmond, Va.
Minor officially visited Tennessee on Oct. 8, Michigan on Dec. 9, and Miami on Dec. 17.
GoBlueWolverine.com
spoke on Tuesday with Minor, who has one trip remaining. "I'll be visiting Virginia Tech on Jan. 20, then that's it," he said. "I won't be taking any more visits, then I'll decide sometime before Feb. 1. I'll call the coaches first, then I'll have a press conference at my school."
Minor said he will decide among the four schools he has visited, and that none lead at the moment.
He said he did have a pair of visitors to kickoff the New Year. "Coach (Lloyd) Carr was here on January 3rd, and Coach (Phil) Fuhlmer was here on January 4th," he said. "They both told me how much they wanted me and stuff. I know that Michigan got a commitment from another running back, but that doesn't mean anything to me, I'll go in and play wherever I go."
He said he watched most of the bowl games, and paid particular attention to a former teammate. "
Michael Robinson
(quarterback at Penn State) went to my school and we played together," Minor said. "He played real good against Florida State, that was good to see." The Nittany Lions defeated FSU 26-23 in a three-overtime Orange Bowl thriller on Januaty 3rd.
The No. 30-ranked running back in the country according to Scout.com, and no. 38 East prospect, said he is planning on majoring in business and is fully qualified.
