Joe Danna is a 6'4 235 pound quarterback with a strong arm and a 4.6 40 yard dash who is about to graduate from Blinn Junior College in East-Central Texas. And when it came time for college football programs to go through the country looking at end-of-season film, Danna jumped out for the Michigan coaches.
Joe Danna
is a 6'4 235 pound quarterback with a strong arm and a 4.6 40 yard dash who is about to graduate from Blinn Junior College in East-Central Texas. Blinn is "The" junior college in Texas football-wise, and with Danna at QB passing for 200 yards per game they opened the season 5-0. Danna got hurt at the start of game six and missed the next two games as well, and Blinn finished the season 7-3.
Despite having an injury-interrupted season, when it came time for college football programs to go through the country looking at end-of-season film, Danna obviously stuck out for the Michigan coaches, above several other previously noted QB prospects. The Wolverines brought Danna an offer and pressed him for a visit, and Danna told GoBlueWolverine last night:
"The Michigan coaches did not come in, but they called and I did talk to them."
Did they offer you? Have you set a visit?
"Yes, Michigan has offered me a scholarship. And my Michigan visit is set -- I'm flying up there this Friday."
"Yeah, Ole Miss offered me as well and wanted me to visit this weekend, but I'm not going to take that one."
Is this your second year of junior college?
"Yes, I'm a sophomore. I'll be transferring to the school I pick at semester, in January."
What other offers do you have?
"SMU (made an official visit), Wyoming (made an official visit), and Louisiana Tech."
Danna has never been to Michigan, does not have family or anything in the state. So ...
Might you actually go up there and commit?
"Well, I don't know. If I like it enough ..."
For the season threw for 1, 274 yards and 10 TD's in seven games. He was named All-Conference Honorable Mention.
As far as high school, he said, "My family lives in Houston now. But I'm from Washington actually; I went to DaMatha High School."
(
GoBlueWolverine note: is this all heading the way it LOOKS to be heading for Danna? 'Tis the season for things to get crazy', so we'll see what happens this Friday-Saturday-Sunday ...)
