Injuries appear to be the order of the day for Michigan football, both for those now on the team and those soon to be Wolverines. Safety Steve Brown underwent surgery today to repair a broken ankle suffered in an accident at school. On Thursday, GoBlueWolverine.com spoke with Steve's father.
As if the pain of injuries to the current team weren't enough, fate decided to rain on a future member of the Michigan football team. Safety
Steve Brown
of Columbus, Ind. East High School had his season cut short by an injury suffered off the field. "He is in surgery now," Brown's father said. "He broke his ankel during a phys ed class, you know, a bunch of athletes playing around. It's just an accident."
Mr. Brown said his son would rehab for 6-8 weeks at the least before being able to put any pressure on the ankle, which will cause him to miss the rest of his season. He also said Steve won't spend more than a day in the hospital. "He might be home tonight (Thursday)," he said. "But they'll know more once he's out of surgery. They might keep him overnight just to be safe. Then he'll rehab here at home."
On Aug. 1, The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Brown accepted a scholarship offer to play football for Michigan. Mr. Brown said that while the injury ended his son's season, there is a significant event forthcoming that will give Steve reason to work hard on his rehab. Stay tuned to
