Maryvale High School teammates Brantwon Bowser and Jermaine Williams have been considered by many close to the situation to be a package deal. With the recent pledge of defensive end Williams to Arizona State, it was thought Bowser would soon follow. However, on Saturday, Bowser told GoBlueWolverine.com he was not quite ready to commit.
On Friday, defensive end
Jermaine Williams
of Maryvale High School in Phoenix decided to end his recruitment and commit to hometown Arizona State. "It wasn’t my plan to commit before the beginning of the season," Williams told Scout.com. "But I saw how much they wanted me so I decided to commit. I feel real relieved this is over.”
The 6-foot-4, 247-pound Williams added that he thought his teammate, defensive back
Brantwon Bowser
, would soon follow. “He said that he will make a decision next week, and I think he’s also gonna choose Arizona State.”
However, Bowser told GoBlueWolverine Magazine he while he is seriously considering such a move, he's not quite ready to pull the trigger. "When Jermaine and I talked about it, we were going to go to ASU together," Bowser said. "I may still do that, but I want to look around at some other schools first, so I know I'm doing the right thing."
One school the 6-foot-0, 175-pound Bowser wishes to check out is Michigan. "I'm still going to go to their (Michigan) camp," he said. "I'm also going to go to the Arizona State camp."
Bowser reports offers from ASU and San Jose State. He said he still may visit the Spartan campus, but wasn't sure.
At the recent Scout.com combine in Southern California, Bowser showed why he is one of the top talents in the West. His 39-inch vertical was tops among defensive backs, and his 4.58 in the 40 was second to defensive back Darian Hagan.
