Defensive back
Myron Rolle
of The Hun School in Princeton, N.J., is possibly the No. 1 recruit in the nation for the recruiting class of 2006. He recently responded to an interview request from GoBlueWolverine Magazine and agreed to take time out of his hectic schedule to talk recruiting. This is Part One of our conversation.
With 40-offers already this recruiting season, defensive back
Myron Rolle
of The Hun School in Princeton, N.J., is in demand not only by top Division 1-A college coaches, but by media outlets wanting to get his story. "You probably have an idea, but I have been getting swamped with interview requests daily," he said in an e-mail to
GoBlueWolverine.com
. "I must turn down three a day. I have three production companies wanting to send cameras to my house and school to film my every move. It is pretty crazy!"
Needless to say GBW greatly appreciates that Rolle agreed to talk about his recruiting. "I feel I owe it to the Michigan fans considering that U-M is one of my finalists," he said in the same e-mail.
GBW contacted Rolle at his home in Princeton Thursday evening, and we bring you part one of our interview.
Rolle, who in January measured 6-foot-2, 206-pounds at the U.S. Army All-American Junior Combine in San Antonio, Texas could possibly end up being the No. 1 prospect in the nation when rankings are released early this summer. What is that like for the young man? "It's feels great," he said. "I've worked hard and invested so much into my development, along with my family, and now I'm reaping the benefits of all the hard work. Now, I just have to handle it correctly."
Rolle is the youngest sibling in a family of five boys, and credits his brothers for a lot of his current success. "They put a football in my hands," he said. "We're all athletes and my brothers taught me everything. I've learned from each one not only how to play but how to do well in the classroom; that is very important to me, and to everyone in my family."
Talented in the classroom as well as the football field, Rolle reports a 4.0 grade-point-average with a desire to attend medical school once he finishes his undergraduate work. "Although I am looking to play football after college, things can happen," he said. "I know I need to be prepared and I take my education very seriously."
In Part Two of our interview with Rolle, which will be available on Monday to GoBlueWolverine.com Premium Subscribers, Rolle talks about his relationship with the Michigan coaching staff, and how the Wolverines stand in his recruitment. He also tells the story behind
