We spoke to you at the ABCD camp and at that time you hadn't narrowed
things down to a top five. Have you done that yet?
"I still have a long list of schools, but I guess you could say I have
a top three Michigan,Connecticut, and Georgia Tech. Those three have been recruiting
me the hardest."
Has Michigan been out to your school this fall?
"Yes, Coach Ramsey has come out."
What are you impressions of the Michigan staff?
"I feel like they're really interested in me. I really like both Coach
Amaker and Coach Ramsey. I've formed a good relationship with the staff."
Besides the staff, what are some of the positives about Michigan?
"One thing that really sticks out is Michigan has excellent academics.
The only thing about it is the weather. I need to get out there and see what's
it's like."
So you're pretty sure you'll visit Michigan?
"Yes, I'll use one of my visits to get out there. I'll visit UCONN and
Georgia Tech too. I'm not sure where else yet."
Why is it that the warm weather California schools aren't on your list?
"I don't know. I just don't see myself going to a UCLA or a USC. I'm not
ruling them out, but I kind of think I'll be going away."
Do you have a timetable for your decision?
"Not really. I know I want to take some visits first. Maybe early in my
senior year."
What was your reason for transferring from Verbum Dei to Fairfax?
"There were a number of reasons. It's definitely a good basketball situation
and I'll be playing against some really good competition. The main thing probably
was we moved. The commute would have been very long. Plus this school is it
a better area. My old school wasn't really in the best neighborhood. It's not
that I was scared or anything but that's something you pay attention to."
GBW will keep up with Shaw throughout the year.
