SDSU's Hamilton Out For Michigan Game

San Diego State visits Ann Arbor Saturday. Unfortunately for the Aztecs they will be without one of their main weapons. Running back
Lynell Hamilton
has been suffering from a sore ankle for three weeks. As a result his practice time has been limited and he will sit out Saturday's game.
Lynell Hamilton
, from Edison High School in Stockton, Calif., was a highly sought after recruit and an early Michigan target, before family pressures caused him to stay closer to home and choose San Diego State. The sophomore running back was off to an impressive start last season before a hip injury sidelined him for the year. Hamilton looked to be a potent weapon for the Aztecs hopes of pulling a win out of Michigan Stadium, it looks as though another injury will keep him out of Saturday's game. "I haven't had any contact since (Aug. 21)," Hamilton told the
San Diego Union-Tribune
. "That's a big adjustment. I could probably do it. Not having contact isn't a big deal to me. But there's a lot that goes into it."
Michigan had extended an offer to the talented back, and he was looking forward to the visit to Ann Arbor. "I'm looking forward to that Michigan game," he said last month. "I know a lot of players on that team. When I first stepped in the Big House on my trip, I was like, 'If I don't go here I sure do want to play here, and I want to really do some things.' Now I've got a chance to go there."
Aztec Head Coach Tom Craft hopes to have Hamilton ready for SDSU's game against Nevada the following week. "He was running a lot better today, cutting real well, but not to the point where we expect to play him against Michigan," Craft said. "Right now our starting point would be next week against Nevada. We expect him to get a full week of practice and play in that game without a doubt."
There is another Michian-San Diego State connection. Michigan quarterack
Spencer Brinton
was the Aztec starter before going on his two-year Mormon mission. When he returned he signed on with the Wolverines.
