Victor Harris Sets Three Tentative Visit Dates
Along with the three schools getting visits, Victor Harris has three additional schools on his final list, Maryland, Miami, and Virginia. The list is final, according to Burton. "Other schools continue to call," he said. "But if they aren't on the final list I politely tell them to stop calling." Burton also said that while the Harris family has requested all media contact go through him, the coaching staffs of the lucky six have direct access to the talented young man. Burton said he would most likely set visits to all six schools, then Harris would drop one at a later date. He also refused to say any of the six lead.
The 6 foot 0, 186-pound Harris is being recruited at both the running back and defensive back positions. Spots his coach said he could play at the next level. Burton said Michigan is recruiting Harris for the defensive back position.
Highland Springs is off to a 2-0 start. Both wins have been by huge margins, a 34-0 blanking of Prince George on Sept. 2 was followed by a 40-27 pasting of Huguenot on Sept 7. Burton reports that Harris has 36 carries for 220 yards with five touchdowns. "He has three running TD's and one passing," he said. "He also has one interception return." Burton didn't have defensive stats for Harris.
Burton described is star protege as one of those rare players with the ability to score every time he touches the ball. He also feels Harris has the smarts to succeed in college. "Things at this level are pretty simple," Burton said. "He'll need to grasp the complexity of the game at the next level. He has a good feel for the game and is a quick and willing learner and responds very well to challenges."
Burton said Harris scored a 940 on his SAT and is fully qualified.
