B-Rob to the Bobcats

After leading the Wolverines to the NIT Championship, Michigan senior wing Bernard Robinson, Jr. was the 16th pick of the second round (45th overall) in Thursday's NBA draft. The expansion Charlotte Bobcats used their second pick to secure Robinson.

After taking Emeka Okafor with the second overall pick in Thursday's draft, the Charlotte Bobcats used their next pick, the 45th overall, to select Michigan wingman Bernard Robinson, Jr. Robinson is coming off a senior season in which he led the Wolverines to the NIT Championship. The 6 foot 6, 210-pound Robinson was named to the All-Big Ten Conference third team while leading the Wolverines in playing minutes (1095) while seeing action in all 34 games for the 2003-2004 season. He was second in total points scored with 411, an averaged of 12.1 points per-game. He led the team in defensive rebounds with 158, and total rebounds with 194, a 5.7 rebounds per-game average.

Robinson saw the Michigan program rise from the ashes of the Ed Martin debacle and was instrumental in the program's resrugence. His first year (2000-2001) saw the Wolverines go 11-18 overall and 5-11 in the Big Ten. Last season's NIT Championship run gave Michigan a 23-11 record overall, with an even 8-8 record in the Big Ten.

We'll have more from BRJ in the days to come.
