Christmas Commitment: Walton's a Wolverine!
Walton told GoBlueWolverine Magazine last week that playing time was a big factor in his decision. "When I was on my visit to Michigan I got a chance to look at the depth chart on the defensive line and it looks like I could come in right away and play," he said. "I wouldn't have to red-shirt and I like the idea of early playing time."
When GBW spoke with him today he said there was really never any doubt as to his choice. "I don't want to make anyone mad but it was really Michigan all the time," Walton said. "I've always been a Michigan fan and I'm so happy to be able to go to school and play there. I wanted to go where my degree will mean something if I don't make it to the league (NFL). I also want to play for a national championship. Also, it's close to home so my parents can come see me play a lot. They also really liked the coaches." Walton said he chose Michigan over Purdue, Illinois, Oregon and Iowa.
Walton said he is going to wrestle this winter in order to keep in shape. He said he wants to pursue a degree in broadcasting.
