The Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech four-star running back announced his decision to become part of Michigan’s 2015 class earlier today on Twitter.
Ultimately, Weber admits he just felt “wanted” by the U-M Coaching staff.
“Just to be able to play at home, to have my family watch me play,” Weber said on reason he chose the Wolverines. “Their depth chart is kind of low. They told me they really wanted me. So I just felt it.”
Weber chose the Wolverines over finalists Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconsin and USC. While he made his commitment known publicly this evening on Twitter, he told the U-M coaching staff about his decision while attending a Michigan practice earlier today.
“They were hype,” Weber said. “It was at practice. [Offensive coordinator Doug] Nussmeier was just hype.”
Weber had planned on making his commitment announcement at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas on Jan. 3, 2015. However, his mind changed with the Wolverines’ courtship and continued reminder of how much they wanted him in Ann Arbor.
“I wanted to do it at the All-American game, but today I just had that feeling,” Weber said. “I didn’t want to wait anymore. So it’s over with now.”
