Three Stand Out for Miles Sanders

Miles Sanders

2016 Pittsburgh (Pa.) Woodland Hills RB Miles Sanders got his first look at Michigan Saturday and picked up a Maize & Blue offer while on campus. It was a move that help propel the Wolverines up his list. The question is, how far?

Sam Webb:  Before we get into talking recruiting, take me through your season. How did things go on the football field last year?

Miles Sanders:  “Good.  I got over 1000 yards on 123 carries, average nine yards a gain and had 14 touchdowns.  I made First Team All-Conference and Third Team All-State.”

Sam Webb:  Pretend for a second that you’re a scout or coach in the stands and you’re watching Miles Sanders on the football, break down your game and give me a scouting report.

Miles Sanders:  “Great vision, speed, great hands, brings a lot to the system.  I’ve just got to work on my blocking and I’ve got to run over people more this year.”

Sam Webb:  What is your height, weight and 40 time?

Miles Sanders:  “Six foot, 195 and my 40 is a 4.46.”

Sam Webb:  So you picked up a Michigan offer during your visit.  Did you know it was coming?

Miles Sanders:  “They told me that I was going to get it… I just had to visit for them to offer me in person.”

Sam Webb:  What were your impressions of your first visit to Michigan?

Miles Sanders:  “I liked it a lot.  I was very impressed with their education and the kids.  I liked the kids a lot.  I like the stadium obviously.  I met some of the players; Devin Gardner was cool.  Coach Hoke is real good.”

Sam Webb:  Did you get a chance to talk to Coach Nussmeier or Coach Jackson much while you were there?

Miles Sanders:  “Yeah.  They were the main two coaches that I was talking to.  (Coach Nussmeier) is good.  I think he came from Alabama.  And Coach Jackson… he’s like a legend up there.”

Sam Webb:  You go to Woodland Hills, so I’m curious if you’ve ever met two former Michigan players that came from your school named Steve Breaston and Ryan Mundy?

Miles Sanders:  “Yeah I talked to both of them. They came by the school.  They come by our practices too sometimes.”

Sam Webb:  Have you ever talked to them about Michigan?

Miles Sanders:  “Yeah.  They told me that I was going to like it a lot.”

Sam Webb:  Besides Michigan how many offers do you have?

Miles Sanders:  “I have eight.  I have Michigan, Michigan State, Pitt, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Toledo and Temple.”

Sam Webb:  At this early point in your process are any of those schools sticking out for you?

Miles Sanders:  “Penn State and Michigan State.  Michigan has been real good.”

Sam Webb:  You mentioned Penn State and Michigan State, what is it about those two schools that have them up there right now?

Miles Sanders:  “Right now I have Penn State first and Michigan and Michigan State tied.”

Sam Webb:  What put Penn State on top for you?

Miles Sanders:  “Their coaching staff.  I like the campus.  I like the environment and when I get up there I know there will only one other upper classman above me.  I’ll have a real, real good chance of starting as a true freshman.”

Sam Webb:  What about Michigan State, what has Michigan State high on your list?

Miles Sanders:  “Michigan State was good.  I like their campus a lot.  I met some of their players.  I met Jeremy Langford, their running back.  I like how they run the ball a lot.”

Sam Webb:  Are you taking any more visits this summer?

Miles Sanders:  “I might visit Florida State.”

Sam Webb:  When you get ready to sit down and make your decision, what are going to be the big factors in that choice?

Miles Sanders:  “Where I’m going to play the earliest to be honest.”

Sam Webb:  What about distance from home… is distance going to be a factor for you?

Miles Sanders:  “I might go far, I might not… it doesn’t matter.”

Sam Webb:  What about timeline?  When do you think you’ll be making your decision?

Miles Sanders:  “I don’t know yet.  I’m debating on it.  I want to be one that gets invited to an Under Armour All American Bowl and commit there; hoping I can.”
