HARPER WOODS, Mich. – 2017 wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones
is a prospect on the rise in the Great Lakes' State. The Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech standout came to the Sound Mind, Sound Body football camp last week with an opportunity to showcase his skills amongst multiple big time college coaching staffs.
And he didn't disappoint.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder, was able to make multiple plays downfield, showcasing his hands and crisp route running abilities throughout the two-day camp.
"I think I did alright," Peoples-Jones said modestly. "I just wanted to come out here and see how I competed with some of the best players in the Midwest."
During his camp experience, Peoples-Jones also had an opportunity to talk with the coaching staffs from Michigan, Ohio State and Michigan State among others.
Ohio State, which is Peoples-Jones' only offer, took the opportunity to get Peoples-Jones reacquainted with coach Urban Meyer.
"They introduced me to all of their coaching staff," Peoples-Jones said on the Buckeyes. "I met coach Meyer. It went well. He just wanted to meet me. I met him before, but that was before I had the offer. This time was a little more serious."
Peoples-Jones had a conversation with Michigan State, as well.
"Coach Samuel, we have a good relationship," Peoples-Jones said on the Spartans. "He comes up to my school quite often. So I see him a lot."
While Michigan has yet to offer Peoples-Jones, he still had positive things to say about the Wolverines.
"Michigan is probably the top prominent school in the country," Peoples-Jones said. "Everybody who lives in Michigan, they look up to Michigan. And look for them to stay on top."
Peoples-Jones says he also is planning on camping at U-M this week for a one-day camp.
"I want to show them what I have," Peoples-Jones said. "Obviously, they haven't offered me yet. I want to show them I am worthy of it."
In the meantime, Peoples-Jones says he will working hard this summer as he prepares for his sophomore campaign.
"I got to go into this summer hard," Peoples-Jones said. "I haven't really done anything. I only played in a couple games. I still have something to prove. This will be the season to prove it."
