ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Key quotes from Michigan fifth-year senior running back Fitzgerald Toussaint from Tuesday’s media session, as the Wolverines prepare for rival Michigan State this Saturday.
Playing against MSU’s tour run defense: “That’s perfect for the situation. This is what you come to Michigan for to play in games like this. To play against teams like that. You know, I am just confident in our guys. (We’re) just going to go out there and execute when we have to execute. I’m going to worry about what’s going on this side of the ball. We just want to make sure we put our main focus on what we have to do.”
Running the ball on the outside in the shotgun set: “I feel like being able to adjust to just about anything is kind of what type of back I am. I like to be in space. I got a better vision in space. I think that’s what we need to do, and I think that’s what we’re going to do.”
On watching film and seeing any weaknesses in the Spartan defense: “I just feel like we got to go out there and punch them in the mouth first. It’s going to be a tough fight football game. And as long as we go out there and play like we can play – I think a tough team is going to win the game.” ,p>
On attacking the double-A gap blitz: “You just got to attack it. Sprint to the pick up. Coach (Fred Jackson) put an emphasis on that every day. After you sprint to the pickup, you got to identify it. That;s the first thing. You know? we just got to do better job of doing that.”
On running with pride against MSU’s defense: “We just got to execute our plays, We just going to take what they give us. We’re going to take some shots. It’s going to work out cause we’re going to prepare that way.”
