The Opening: Leonard Fournette Update

BEAVERTON, Oregon - Leonard Fournette now knows three schools he will be taking official visits to. Get the latest on the No. 1 prospect in the country here...

The Opening is not a place for running backs to truly shine, especially if you are a 6-foot-1, 226 pounds, and known more for power than speed.

But, do not let that fool you, Fournette has done well out in Oregon.

He actually likes it on the west coast and he will be taking an official visit out west later this year.'s complete coverage of The Opening 2013 presented by NIKE
"I went out to USC for the camp and it was my first time ever at USC," Fournette said. "It was great out there. I had a lot of fun and I really liked the personalities of the coaches and the players. I told the coaches that I will be taking one of my official visits there, but I have not set the date yet."

The star out of New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine has been around programs in the south, like Alabama, Florida State, and LSU, but he liked the school in L.A. a little more than he thought he would.

"I can see myself there now and in that big city. It surprised me a little bit how much I liked it to be honest. The weather was great, I really liked the coaches, and it is a school I will be taking a good look at now."

For USC to sign the five-star running back, the Trojans will have to beat out SEC schools Alabama and LSU.

Fournette has been recruited by those two schools for almost three years. He has been some connections.

"Coach Frank Wilson at LSU is a great person and he reminds me of myself. I relate to him well and we are like friends. He and I have a great bond and that really helps LSU with me. If I had to give one main reason why I love LSU the way I do, it would be him."

Very simlar comments were made about the Crimson Tide.

"Coach Burton Burns is another cool man. He is a great coach, he knows how to coach running backs, and they have been on a roll at that position recently. They have a great staff that just knows how to coach and the coaches there really impress me."

Alabama and LSU along with USC are definites when talking official visits now, so who will be the final two?

"I am not sure on the other two yet. You could say that Florida State is still in there, but I am not sure yet who else I will visit. I will figure that out later."

Fournette does not plan to announce his decision until signing day.
